- Believes that music videos ignore common narrative since they may be used for advertisements.
- Believes that the consumers will make up the meanings in their mind.
These elements were mostly found in music videos:
Romance - showing love and happiness through use of couples and PDA
Nostalgia - looking back at something, admiring the past
Nihilism - meaning depressed and dark, they are very negative and reject everything such as morals and society.
Love & Sex -
Loss of Innocence - changing identity to sexualise
Treatment of authority - talking about police in Grime music
Social Consciousness - talking about issues around the world such as homosexuality
Edit in time to the beat (fast paced)
Authorage - how an artist will be identified
My music video, the colour red, genre related style the graffiti relates to R&B
examples of authorage: JLS, their authorage was being topless, Amy Winehouse, her authorage was her hair and the way she dresses.
Multiple close ups were used mostly for female artists as they were sexualised in the 1990s, this links to Mulvey's theory of the male gaze (but the world would have changed since goodwin's time and now male artists are using multiple close ups sexually.)
Fetishisation - linking to sexualise the artist.
Voyeurism - pleasure for looking (examples old people looking at young people and these are used to sexualise the artist)
My music video doesn't use this as we don't sexualise
